Interior design for small apartments
A small space always exposes you to the drive to pile furniture and all kinds of accessories which have no place in such cases. As we showed before, small rooms should not be obstacles in the way of a desire to arrange them creatively and tricks used to this purpose range from intelligent storage spaces to well-chosen colors that deceive the eye and leave the impression of space.
First, when it comes to interior design for small apartments, planning must start from the basic rule: move as many of the large pieces of furniture used for storage and seek intelligent solutions designed for this purpose, like built-in storage or suspended shelves for a the final decluttered aspect of the room. Go for cube shape storage space that can be used as a table as well.
In the image below, which represents a small apartment, the kitchen and living room form a single room and the narrow but long mirror on the wall creates a feeling of an enhanced space.
Of course, a small space requires small furniture. A small but cleverly designed sofa, as shown below, where the armrest takes the form of book shelves, is an intelligent answer to the problem posed by limited space.
The following example of an interior design for small apartments is from the city of Barcelona. Nothing is randomly arranged here and it is the original design that gives the little apartment a distinct personality. The owners have opted only for practical furniture, such as coffee table on wheels, built-in storage and a suspended bed bath over the bathroom. The final result is an open, airy small apartment that exudes joy of life.
The following image illustrates the new storage ideas – a bedroom dresser and a bookcase that fits in a narrow space along a corridor.
Again, a suspended bed works wonders in small apartments. This photo depicts an apartment of just 21 square meters and the final result is even more spectacular. The main room (the apartment also includes a bathroom) has a miniature kitchen and the suspended bed, under which there is a sofa, along with plenty of natural light coming in through the three large create a spacious view, unimaginable for such a small area.
The last picture (the opening image) exemplifies practicality in interior design with perfectly integrated storage spaces and a palette of bright colors for the feeling of space.
