Whether we look at interior design or the exterior appearance, the rustic style exhales a welcoming air and distinguishes itself by the strong personality. Its naturalness resides in the simple, unassuming design and the materials, such as wood and stone, in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape.

Despite its simplicity, the rustic style can easily adopt elements of modern design which is becoming a regular trend in the contemporary architecture. Wooden beams, natural stone and interior decorations in lighter tones can mix together for a simple, yet elegant design. Generally, the rustic style consists of a wide chromatic range featuring brown, beige, light green, red, yellow and blue, but it bears different country to country traditional elements. Wine racks and cellars, wooden chairs and ceramic, wooden or iron wrought decorations are also likely to be found in country style homes.

The second example is a larger wooden house whose facade is visually dominated by a shady veranda which embraces the front entry and runs along one side of the home, then opens to a deck at the rear. A private balcony off the master bedroom provides the same stunning vistas as the deck below. Inside, the open kitchen spills into the vast great room, where a gas fireplace provides warmth. Upstairs, the master bedroom enjoys a vaulted ceiling.
