Turning a garage into a modern home is not a process where only money counts. Such original houses tell the story of a vision and courage to go beyond the conventional barriers, to do what others do not dare because of prejudices. We have so far presented such stories a couple of times, but today we come back with new garages converted into homes.

The first example comes from the French city of Bordeaux, where a garage has become the home of a photographer always on the move, but who wanted a home that does not mess up his personal budget. He found a garage for sale close to the city center and then hired an architectural studio to turn the old structure of 41 square meters into a house in its own right. The house is clad in pine timber, while a sliding wood shutter plays the entrance door, blocking all access from the street to the tiny home. The new house has it all – kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom (hidden in the wooden structure in the picture below) and a mezzanine bedroom.

In the second example, a family in the US capital Washington turned the garage into a spacious kitchen, enabling them to use the old kitchen in the house for another purpose. The new kitchen radiates energy in a burst of colors and materials that discharge a vibrant decor. Wood beams on the ceiling were preserved from the old structure, perfectly matching with wooden floor.

A garage converted into a holiday home this time, oozing an exotic air. The old structure housed two cars so the space was enough to convert it into a chic, full of light tiny home. The lodge has it all, too: a spacious living room that includes the kitchen on one side of the old garage, a bathroom and a bedroom in the attic, bathed in light thanks to the skylights, accessible through an ordinary wooden ladder.

The last example is equally fascinating and it can now be rented out on Airbnb.com The old garage can easily accommodate 4 people in the two beds available, surprising their guests with a contemporary décor in which every square centimeter is used to the fullest capacity. For instance, the bedroom hosting platform that extends above the kitchen, an ingenious idea to save space.
