Organic fertilizers are the best option for your garden, whether we speak a classic one or a green pocket that comes down to containers and pots on the patio or balcony. The last example calls for organic fertilizers even more. The soil and water with which you fill your garden containers don’t always give your plants the nutrients they need, including nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous. As a result, it’s best to fertilize your potted gardenias, roses and other flowers when they’re actively growing, not when they reach full maturity, for a more durable effect. Since we have already showed how to make organic fertilizers at home, let’s look at other solutions to produce organic flower fertilizer:

A simple method to produce it yourselves at home, without spending money on it, is to mix organic waste from your yard and household in a bin or in a small shed outside, far from the house. Keep in mid the bin should be thus built so to ensure proper ventilation because oxygen and moisture are essential in the decomposing process. Also, make sure that when you add waste to the pile, just scatter it on top and not squash it in for the very reasons mentioned above. At the same time, make sure there is an adequate mixture of dried ingredients (egg shells, dry leaves) and green ones, like lawn clippings or food waste. You will finally get an organic heap which you can mix with soil and then scatter at the root of the plants.

You can throw different things that are within reach at home in your compost bin, such as banana peels, egg shells, coffee grounds, sea weeds, weeds, molasses, grass clippings, manure, cat and food dog you no longer use for your pets and worm castings. Please note that each of these ingredients can work as an organic fertilizer by itself.

The liquid fertilizer is another solution recommended by the experts. One of the recipe consists of dissolving a manure bag in water for a couple of days. You should also place the container in the sunlight for the best results. You can use this mixture to fertilize your plants as frequently as once a week. Another recipe is a mixture of 15 grams of fish emulsion, three grams of kelp and one gallon of water. Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and then use on your plants. Also, another simple recipe to get a fertilizer is mixing 1-3 tablespoons of molasses into a gallon of water.
