Victorian Style House Goes Through Superb Makeover
On one of the sloping streets of San Francisco, a Victorian style house got a whole new interior. Seen from the outside, the dark street façade of the remodeled house stands out visually from the homes that surround it and gives it a distinct identity, without though suggesting anything of the ample makeover process it went through on the inside. At the end, the house got a unique personality of its own that combines modernity with a lingering Victorian vibe. Pictures and description come via Decoist.com
Seen from the street, the narrow house appeals thanks to a different chromatic. On the other side, the dark side is replaced by a beautiful patio that extends the kitchen and the dining into the open air. From the street, step into a living room where the exposed concrete fireplace and the mirror on the mantle combine to create an artistic focal point. There is no lack of color inside this living space with the corner areas being utilized as quiet and comfy reading / conversation zones. Draped in simple neutral hues and warm wooden tones the kitchen and dining space exude a more transitional style with beautiful pendant lighting and skylights illuminating this space evenly.
The old wooden window frames of the bay window make a fine background for the modern lighting fixtures in that seating area. In the kitchen, a second nook was created, with book shelves above running all across the width of the space. An unusual association between the kitchen and book storage spaces. The kitchen features the same bold combination between wood and metal, with the white furniture bringing extra light colors into the décor.
While the public spaces seem far more transitional, the bedroom and bathrooms completely embrace cool contemporary style with minimal décor and a white and gray color scheme. Beautiful blue accents, floating wooden vanity in the bathroom and a shower area with penny tiles add visual contrast even as cleverly placed artwork and wall murals in the kids’ room usher in a hint of bright color.
