The main home design trends in 2015
The American National Association of Home Builders compiled a list of the main home design trends in 2015 based on submissions from the most famous and creative architects, builders, developers and specialists in interior and exterior design that the association awarded in its annual competition. Read on to learn about the trends in vogue now and which can inspire you in arranging your home:
The first trend, according to Tennessean.com, relates to kitchens and American experts say this year trending is what they call “white on white kitchens”, namely kitchens with white furniture on a general white background (the opening picture). This trend, which is not new, can be seen in both traditional and modern homes that blend white cabinets and white counter tops with white trims. The only contrast that can break the big white landscape is the floor color.
The second trend in interior design refers to kitchens again and this time is about partitioning this room and dividing it into two centers of gravity: one dedicated to cooking and the other to serving meals and drinks. This second island can gain a more formal weight, for example, in cases when you bring someone to dinner.
We leave the kitchen and go to the bathroom. Here, the continuing “spa bathroom” trend consists visually in the location of the bath tub in the middle of the room, separated from its next to the wall classic position.
Fourth, we have the combination of natural elements with contemporary materials, a mix that gives elegance to modern design. Such combinations can be between wood, steel and glass or classic fabrics and new materials.
The get-away rooms, spaces of relaxation, are also among the main home design trends this year. Be it a classical room or a game room, more and more people prefer indulging in activities that break the fast pace of everyday life.
Small bars or even whole rooms dedicated to hosting a bar – it is fashionable to fill, for example, the space under the stairs, often ignored, with such a bar or placing it in a location in some corners of the house where no other furniture would fit.
More and more people are also interested in houses with some space on the roof, designed to allow owners to easily make the transition from the space of relaxation from the inside to the outside, where they can admire the surroundings.
Also among the main home design trends in 2015 are smaller entries. Even if in some cases they opt for imposing doors at the entrance, they open immediately in the living space of the house.
