How Often Should You Wash Towels and Other Daily Use Things?

You may have a routine or you may simply toss your towels or jeans in the washing machine without observing a time frame or a number of wearings. Most people clean the fridge when it’s overcrowded and everything must be taken out and rearranged. Still, there is a certain frequency cleaning experts recommend for each of these chores. So how often should you wash towels and other daily use things?

How often should you wash towels?

It may not look this way, but the towel you use after a shower or bath is really dirty. Body grease and other secretions and dead skin cells get into its fabric from the first use. And the towel you use to dry your hands multiple times a day are even dirtier.

So, bath towels can be used up to three times before needing to be washed. Hand towels, however, should be changed every one to two days since they are getting used more frequently.

Wash towels at a 40 degrees Celsius temperature, using a biological detergent. It contains an enzyme that breaks down body secretions such as sweat, but it doesn’t activate at low temperatures.

How often should you wash your jeans?

Give jeans a good wash after every few wearings. The fabric absorbs body oils and stains, so it’s best to toss them in the washer. Tumble dry them on a low heat and take them out of the dryer when they are still damp to air dry.
