1. Combine vinegar with essential oil
Vinegar is the main responsible for softening clothes and removes any trace of cleanser and minerals from the hard water responsible for stiff clothes. Combine aproximately 1 gallon vinegar with 30 drops essential oil of your choice, depending on the scent you want.
Exactly before the rinse cycle begins, not while washing, pour 1/4 cup of the fabric softener solution into the fabric softener ball and almost the same amount into the washing machine. You can store and use in the future, but stir it well before.
2. How to make your own fabric softener. Vinegar and baking soda
Mix one cup baking soda with 2 cups hot water. The baking soda won’t dissolve, but it has to soak completely. Then slowly add one cup vinegar and stir until the baking soda is dissolved. Baking soda is very useful in case of hard water because it fixes its pH. You can add essential oil to this mixture as well. Pour 1/4 cup in the fabric softener ball before the rinse cycle.

It’s not an ecological alternative, but with cheap hair conditioner you will save some money. Mix 3 cups white distilled vinegar, 2 cups hair conditioner and 6 cups hot water. Pour 1/4 cup of this mixture into the fabric softener ball and the same amount into the machine, before the rinsing cycle.
4. How to make your own fabric softner. Kitchen salt
You can prepare crystal softener by mixing 2 cups kitchen or sea salt with 20-30 drops of the essential oil you desire. Add 1/2 cup baking soda. Pour 2-3 spoons of this mixture directly into the washing mashine before the rinsing cycle begins.
