Homes have long gone beyond the classic barriers of an enclosed space that only need to answer to the primary need of a shelter. In an ever tumultuous present, connecting to the outdoors and nature is now an integral part of the day to day life, but also of a pragmatic architecture that comes to answer this growing need of contemporary people. Of the many available means to find the consummate relaxation under the open sky, here are three houses with second floor terrace which blend the pleasure of clean air with upper floor views.

The first plan is a house spreading on two stories, ground floor and loft, and a total living area of 154 square meters. It is a house featuring a traditional design, with skylights on the side, and an extension through a volume which houses the garage over which open a superb terrace. On the main floor, the space is monopolized by the family rooms which expand outwards on a terrace, while the second floor is home to two bedrooms and as many bathrooms, one of the bedrooms enjoying the access to the terrace sitting on the garage. On the ground floor, the living and the kitchen, separated by a wall, connect into an outdoor patio spreading on 20 square meters. Two bedrooms and a second living lie on the upper floor, the latter sharing access to the terrace with one of the former. This house sells for a price of 55,300 Euros.

Finally, the third house with second floor terrace comes in two stories and a total area of 140 square meters. The home follows the same design pattern, with a separate volume which houses the garage and a beautiful terrace on top, this time spreading on two sides of building. The ground floor’s classic layout includes family spaces spilling into a patio outside, while upstairs rest two bedrooms and a study. Each of the bedrooms share access to the second floor terrace.
